Matcha contains a type of compound that’s believed to be anti-carcinogenic. While all green teas have this compound, matcha may have as much as 137 times more than other varieties.

One medium carrot provides about 204 percent of the daily recommended amount of vitamin A, an antioxidant vitamin needed to create new and healthy skin cells. Vitamin A also protects your skin from bacteria and viruses.

Walnuts.

Going nuts for walnuts may be one of the best things you can do for your health. People who eat walnuts, three times a week or more enjoy two to three more years of life. Nutty folks significantly reduced their risk of cancer and heart disease, the two biggest killers you face as you age.
Although the same cannot be said about other nuts. A study found that the life-lengthening benefits did not extend to peanuts or peanut butter.

Turmeric.

When it comes to anti-aging foods, turmeric is a great option. That’s because this spice contains a potent compound called curcumin. Due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, curcumin is thought to help you maintain brain, heart, and lung function It is also known ato protect against cancers and age-related diseases.
Curcumin has also been linked to an increased lifespan in both insects and mice. However, these findings have not always been replicated, and no human studies are currently available.

Pomegranate.

Tomatoes.

An abundance of health-promoting nutrients can be found in tomatoes including lycopene, vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, and flavonol antioxidants, to name but a few. Lycopene, in particular can protect you against prostate cancer, UV skin damage, and​ heart diseases.
Lycopene is better absorbed by your body when tomatoes are cooked. One cup of tomato sauce has 10 times the lycopene as a cup of raw, chopped tomatoes. Also keep in mind that carotenoids, like lycopene, are best absorbed when accompanied by healthy fats, so enjoy your tomatoes in a salad with nuts or a nut-based dressing for an extra nutritional punch.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Extra virgin olive oil is a staple in the Mediterranean diet, which has been deemed the best diet for living longer. Researchers believe the heavy presence of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats in this oil is a major factor.
Extra virgin olive oil also contains potent antioxidants called polyphenols, which may help protect your brain. A review found that extra virgin olive oil’s antioxidants play an important role in preventing the onset and progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
Another separate review found that these antioxidants have beneficial effects on learning and memory deficits, and could help reverse age-related cognitive decline.

Red Peppers.

Red fruits and vegetables are full of crucial vitamins. Red and orange bell peppers, in particular, have powerful antioxidants.
They’re excellent sources of vitamin A and vitamin C, as well as a good source of vitamin B6.
Red bell peppers also contain phytochemicals and carotenoids, which are antioxidants that have anti-inflammatory, and potentially life-extending properties. One study linked higher carotenoids levels with a lower risk of mortality in older women
over the age of 60.

This may be why Jeanne Louise Calment, who lived a grand total of 122 years and 164 days which is the oldest verified age of any human being ever put her good health down to her eating chocolate regularly.
However, before you go stocking up on chocolate bars, it is worth bearing in mind that one square a day is enough to boost your health.
Also, make sure you go for the over 70 percent cocoa bars which contain more antioxidants and less sugar.
